In Mexico, 74.9% of the indigenous population live

in poverty and 35.5% are in a situation of extreme poverty.

Along with this population are the indigenous women who live in rural areas. 84% of them live in poverty, of which 45.7% are in extreme poverty.

​

Out of all the Mexican states, Chiapas is the one with the highest poverty rate.
