TEACHING ANCESTRAL TECHNIQUES: A CULTURAL HERITAGE
The textile craftswomen have a complex ancestral knowledge, for instance back strap loom weaving amongst other things that belong to the culture of their origin.
This ancient technique is preserved because the women keep weaving with the intention of selling their products at a fair price. This isn’t common, however, at HQT we try to encourage this so the women can have an income that allows them to support their families and provide education, health, food, and basic needs so they can live a dignified life.
By showing their talents, the indigenous women are spreading their culture and sharing it with people who wish to know more about this wonderful technique.
